Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in accounting, auditing, business administration, or related field.
• Five+ years in tax examination, accounting, auditing, or related field with supervisory experience.
• Alternative: six+ years in tax examination or related field with supervisory experience.
• Three years as Tax Field Auditor IV or four years as Tax Examiner VI/Tax Analyst V in Vermont Department of Taxes.

Responsibilities

• Review taxpayer returns and prepare assessments and adjustments.
• Communicate with taxpayers and representatives.
• Participate in appeals and settlement discussions.
• Perform advanced audit tasks with independence and high competency.
• Mentor, supervise, and direct junior auditors or tax analysts.
• Conduct on-site audits when appropriate.
