Job summary

Accurant LLC in Austin, MN is seeking an experienced tax and audit accountant to join our growing firm. This role will lead audits for nonprofit, for-profit, and government entities, prepare tax returns for individuals and organizations, and develop tax planning strategies with clients.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s in accounting, CPA/EA preferred, 5+ years of tax prep and audit leadership, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a similar field.
  • CPA license or Enrolled Agent certification preferred.
  • At least five years of extensive tax prep experience (individual, corporate and partnership tax) in a CPA firm setting.
  • At least five years of leading audits (non-profit and government) in a CPA firm setting.
  • Must live in close proximity to the office in order to meet with clients in-person.
  • Strong knowledge of tax law, regulatory compliance accounting, and financial reporting standards.
  • Desire to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills, displaying the ability to connect & build relationships with clients, firm leadership and peers.
  • Confidence in professional aptitude & the ability to effectively convey skills, knowledge and qualifications to clients.
  • Experience with Lacerte, TaxDome, QuickBooks & Microsoft Office a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead audits for non-profit, for-profit, and governmental organizations
  • Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, non-profits and businesses
  • Create and discuss tax planning scenarios with clients
  • Conduct thorough research on complex tax issues
  • Make final adjusting entries for business clients prior to preparing tax returns
  • Review the work of less experienced staff
  • Collaborate with clients to communicate tax strategies effectively, addressing inquiries related to tax reporting, tax law changes, and financial analysis
