Job summary

Accurant LLC in Apple Valley, MN is seeking an experienced tax accountant to join our expanding firm. You will prepare and review complex returns for individuals, nonprofits, and businesses, and discuss tax planning with clients. The ideal candidate has at least five years in a CPA firm, strong knowledge of tax law, and excellent communication skills.

CPA or EA preferred but not required. We offer flexibility, a competitive salary, incentive bonuses and an excellent benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required.
• CPA license or Enrolled Agent certification preferred.
• At least five years of extensive tax prep experience (individual, corporate and partnership tax) at a senior level in a CPA firm setting.
• Must live in close proximity to the Apple Valley office to meet with clients in-person.
• Strong knowledge of tax law, regulatory compliance accounting, and financial reporting standards.
• Desire to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication & interpersonal skills, displaying the ability to connect & build relationships with clients, firm leadership and peers.
• Experience with Lacerte, TaxDome, QuickBooks & Microsoft Office a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, non-profits and businesses.
• Create and discuss tax planning scenarios with clients.
• Conduct thorough research on complex tax issues.
• Make final adjusting entries for business clients prior to preparing tax returns.
• Review the work of less experienced staff.
• Collaborate with clients to communicate tax strategies effectively, addressing inquiries related to tax reporting, tax law changes, and financial analysis.
