Job summary

Archer Lewis, LLC is a national accounting and advisory firm seeking a senior leader to serve as the primary contact across tax, audit, and assurance engagements. You will review complex tax returns, provide technical expertise in tax planning, and supervise engagements under GAAP and GASB standards.

Proficiency with UltraTax, CCH Axcess, and ONESOURCE is expected. The role requires 7+ years in public accounting with 3+ years in leadership, plus a CPA license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred
• Active CPA license required
• 7+ years of progressive public accounting experience in both tax and assurance
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing staff, client engagements, and workflows
• Experience with tax compliance, planning, and complex returns across entity types (S, C, partnerships, trusts, estates)
• Strong GAAP, GAAS, GASB/GAGAS knowledge; leadership in client engagements

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary client contact across tax, audit, and assurance engagements
• Review complex tax returns (corporate, partnership, trust, estate, LLC)
• Provide technical expertise in tax law, compliance, and planning strategies
• Utilize UltraTax (or similar) to review and manage tax engagements
• Lead assurance and accounting engagements applying GAAP and GASB standards
• Oversee client accounting functions and ownership of ongoing books and financial reporting
• Review work prepared by senior and staff accountants
• Supervise and mentor team members, supporting development and performance
• Act as a front-line leader in managing and growing the firm’s book of business
• Partner with leadership to improve processes and support practice growth

What You’ll Do

• Utilize UltraTax (or similar) to review and manage tax engagements at a high level
• Lead assurance and accounting engagements, applying GAAP and governmental (GASB) standards
• Oversee client accounting functions and take ownership of ongoing books and financial reporting
• Review work prepared by senior and staff accountants, ensuring accuracy and quality control
• Supervise and mentor team members, supporting development and performance
• Act as a front-line leader in managing and growing the firm’s book of business
• Partner with leadership to improve processes and support practice growth

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred
• Active CPA license required
• 7+ years of progressive public accounting experience in both tax and assurance services
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing staff, client engagements, and project workflows
• Demonstrated success managing complex engagements for a variety of entity types, including S corporations, C corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates
• Public accounting firm experience strongly preferred
• Advanced knowledge of tax compliance, tax planning, and applicable tax laws and regulations
• Extensive experience reviewing and overseeing complex tax returns across multiple entity structures
• Strong understanding of GAAP, GAAS, and governmental accounting standards (GASB/GAGAS)
• Proficiency with leading tax and audit software platforms such as UltraTax, CCH Axcess, ONESOURCE, or similar technologies
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, with a strong emphasis on Excel
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking abilities
• Ability to communicate complex accounting and tax concepts clearly to clients and team members
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities effectively
• Strong client relationship management and advisory experience, with a focus on delivering exceptional service
• Experience coaching, developing, and evaluating team performance while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction

Compensation Range

$130,000—$160,000 USD
