Job summary

Verital Advisory Search is partnering with a well-established public accounting firm in the Chicago suburbs to hire a Senior Tax Associate. You will be responsible for leading tax engagements, preparing and reviewing returns across corporate, partnership, individual, trust, and multistate scenarios, and mentoring junior staff.

You’ll work directly with clients on planning and compliance, stay current on tax law changes, and have opportunities to progress toward Tax Manager while benefiting from

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
• At least two years of public accounting tax experience
• Experience preparing and reviewing business and individual tax returns
• Knowledge of corporate, partnership, pass-through, trust, or multistate taxation
• Previous experience reviewing work or mentoring junior professionals
• CPA license, completed CPA exams, or active progress toward the CPA preferred
• Strong communication, research, and analytical skills
• Experience with tax software (CCH, RIA, BNA) is beneficial

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review corporate, partnership, individual, trust, and multistate income tax returns
• Manage tax engagements from information gathering through final delivery
• Identify, research, and document federal and state tax issues
• Work directly with clients on tax planning, compliance, and year-round questions
• Prepare tax accrual workpapers and supporting documentation
• Recommend strategies that help clients maintain compliance and manage their tax obligations
• Review work completed by associates and provide constructive feedback
• Delegate assignments and help manage engagement deadlines
• Train and mentor junior members of the tax team
• Stay current on changes in federal, state, and local tax law
