Job description

Perform tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for a single-family office serving ultra-high-net-worth individuals and their related entities. This role operates with increased independence, manages assigned workstreams, supports complex multi-entity structures, reviews work prepared by junior staff, and collaborates with internal team members and external advisors to deliver high-quality, timely results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Tax Compliance & Planning
  • Prepare and review federal and state tax returns, including individual, fiduciary, partnership, closely held entity, and transfer tax filings, as applicable to assigned clients
  • Review tax returns, projections, and workpapers prepared by junior team members for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax projections
  • Proactively identify tax planning opportunities and contribute to developing recommendations to improve tax efficiency
  • Contribute to and support Managers in delivering tax planning and advisory insights, including contributing to client discussions and execution of planning strategies
Multi-Entity & Investment Structures
  • Support tax compliance and planning across complex, multi-entity structures, including investment partnerships, trusts, and closely held entities
  • Analyze K-1s, investment activity, and related tax implications, and translate findings into reporting positions and planning recommendations
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution
  • Act as an integrated member of the client service team, supporting client meeting preparation and contributing to discussions on tax strategies and recommendations
  • Partner with internal team members and external advisors (e.g., legal counsel, investment professionals) to gather information and support accurate, timely tax filings
  • Actively support assigned client relationships and tax deliverables, including preparing materials for client meetings, maintaining awareness of ongoing tax compliance and planning activities, assisting with execution of tax-related action items, and supporting client communications
  • Provide guidance, training, and review support to junior team members, including day-to-day direction and constructive feedback
  • Take ownership of discrete workstreams for assigned clients, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery
Research & Analysis
  • Conduct tax research, interpret tax law changes, and clearly document conclusions and recommendations
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local tax law developments and proactively share relevant insights within the team
  • Stay current with evolving technology trends (AI, automation, data analytics); champion digital transformation and process improvement initiatives
Audit & Compliance Support
  • Support responses to tax authority notices and audits, including gathering documentation, preparing responses, assisting in representing client positions, and corresponding with tax authorities as appropriate
Process Improvement & Execution
  • Identify and implement enhancements to processes, documentation, and workflows to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the tax function
  • Leverage technology, automation, and data tools (e.g., AI, analytics) to enhance accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and insight
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready workpapers to support tax filings and analysis
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines with attention to detail
  • Support execution of administrative tasks necessary to ensure accurate and timely completion of tax filings
QUALIFICATIONS
