Qualifications

  • 5+ years of overall experience with 2 years in state and local tax.
  • Experience with multistate tax issues and tax compliance.
  • Research and analyze tax legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed reviews of corporate tax returns with multistate tax issues.
  • Assist with income tax accounting for state and local taxes.
  • Supervise tax administrative staff and recommend process improvements.

Skills

Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel

Education

At Dycom , as a Senior Tax Analyst (SALT) , you’ll be a valuable member of the tax team. A career with our state and local tax team will provide you with the opportunity to gain strong technical knowledge, assist with designing fit for the future state tax processes, help solve business challenges related to business structuring, implement adoption of new tax laws, and communicate tax developments. You’ll help with determining our state and local tax effects and recommend solutions that support our overall business objectives to ensure that our filing positions are consistent with good business practices and with the states applicable tax laws and rules. Our goal is to transform risk and compliance related to state and local taxes into a business advantage by aligning our state tax plan with the business strategy; and to properly estimate and plan for the income tax accounting impacts.

What you’ll do as a Senior Tax Analyst (SALT)

  • Prepare and perform detailed technical reviews of corporate and partnership state and local tax returns and work-papers with attention to multistate tax issues
  • Prepare and perform a detailed review of estimated and extension payment tax calculations
  • Assist with the income tax accounting for state and local taxes, including calculating the state blended tax rates, state tax provision, taxes payable roll-forward, uncertain tax positions, and return-to-provision adjustments
  • Assist with maintenance and compliance of key SOX controls related to US tax accounting
  • Assist with any tax projects that occur, such as tax planning, process transformation, restructuring, and due diligence
  • Assist with project and workflow management
  • Research and analyze existing and new state tax legislation and assist with determining tax effects and process impacts for both compliance and provision
  • Assist with investigating and resolving all state tax notices
  • Assist with resolving and responding to state and local audit issues and correspondence
  • Supervise tax administrative staff on various compliance, research and planning projects
  • Identify potential process improvements and recommend implementation
  • Perform other job related duties to support business needs
  • Review your work and that of others for quality, accuracy and relevance

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar field
  • 5+ years of overall experience with a minimum of 2 years of state and local income and franchise tax experience
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel using formulas and functions
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Word
  • Working knowledge of tax research platforms such as CCH, BNA Intelliforms, or related
  • Working knowledge of OneSource Income Tax is a plus
  • Experience with Hyperion is a plus
  • Knowledge of Alteryx is a plus
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel (up-to 10%) when required
  • CPA license preferred
  • Masters in Tax is a plus

  • Routinely: Engage in standard office activities such as standing, sitting, and using computers for extended periods.
  • Occasionally: Travel domestically up to 10% to attend team meetings or training.
