Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant / Client Manager to lead a client portfolio with a mix of roughly two-thirds individual tax (including high-net-worth) and one-third corporate tax. You will shift toward high-level review, advisory, and technical research while overseeing a book of ~1,800 clients in a tech-forward firm.

The role emphasizes advisory work, tax planning, and collaboration with AI-enabled tools.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of continuous, public accounting tax experience in a small-to-midsize firm.
• 1–3 years of direct review experience on complex individual and corporate returns.
• Balanced exposure to individual (1040) and business/corporate returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065).
• Career path focused in tax accounting; not transitioning from non-tax roles.

Responsibilities

• Manage a dedicated client portfolio (~1,800 clients) and act as primary contact.
• Review, prepare, and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses.
• Provide strategic advisory, tax planning, and regulatory guidance to clients.
• Perform technical research and deliver written memos with actionable advice.
• Assist clients with audits and notices from IRS/state/local authorities.
• Leverage AI tools and modern tax software to optimize workflows.
