Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an in-person Block Advisor to work year-round at a local Block Advisors office in Cary, NC. You will prepare complete and accurate tax returns for diverse clients and conduct thorough interviews to tailor recommendations.

You'll build lasting client relationships with empathetic, consultative service, uncover tax savings opportunities, and provide IRS support and audit guidance as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for client-facing discussions.
• Ability to explain complex tax concepts in simple, client-friendly language.
• Experience with tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications—then provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build trusted, year-round client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant Block Advisors products and services.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
