Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting and/or tax experience, including hands‑on experience with tax preparation.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is preferred. Relevant professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- Good understanding of general accounting principles and financial records.
- Experience reviewing accounting records and identifying adjustments necessary before preparing tax returns.
- Understanding of:
- General Ledger
- Trial Balance
- Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations
- Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Fixed Assets
- Depreciation and Amortization
- Adjusting Journal Entries
- Retained Earnings and Equity Accounts
Tax Experience
The candidate should have practical experience preparing some or most of the following:
- Individual Income Tax Returns — Form 1040
- Partnership Returns — Form 1065
- S Corporation Returns — Form 1120-S
- C Corporation Returns — Form 1120
- Federal and State Income Tax Returns
- Extensions and Estimated Tax Payments
A basic to intermediate understanding of the following is preferred:
- Schedule K-1
- Partner and Shareholder Equity
- Basis concepts
- Depreciation
- Book-to-Tax Adjustments
- Schedule M-1 and M-2
- Common business deductions

Accounting & Tax Software
Previous experience with accounting and/or professional tax software is required.
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- QuickBooks Online
- QuickBooks Desktop
- ProConnect Tax
- Drake Tax
- Lacerte
- UltraTax
- CCH
- Zoho or similar platforms
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is expected.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Tax Accountant / Tax Senior may be responsible for:
- Preparing individual and business tax returns.
- Reviewing client accounting records before tax preparation.
- Identifying missing information and potential accounting issues.
- Preparing basic adjusting journal entries.
- Reconciling accounts when necessary.
- Preparing tax workpapers and supporting schedules.
- Assisting with federal and state tax compliance.
- Preparing extensions and estimated tax calculations.
- Communicating with clients to request documents and clarify transactions.
- Managing multiple client assignments and deadlines.
- Maintaining accurate and organized engagement documentation.
- Responding to review comments from management.
- Assisting other team members when necessary.
- Participating in internal training and professional development.
Client Communication
The candidate should be comfortable communicating professionally with clients to:
- Request missing documentation.
- Ask questions regarding accounting transactions.
- Follow up on outstanding information.
- Explain basic accounting and tax matters.
- Maintain clear and professional communication throughout the engagement.
Growth Opportunity
This position is designed for an accounting and tax professional who already has practical experience but wants to continue developing toward a higher-level Tax Senior or Tax Manager role.
The firm will provide opportunities to expand knowledge in areas such as:

Preferred – Not Required
The following qualifications are considered a plus but are not required:
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation or candidate.
- Previous public accounting experience.
- Experience with complex 1065, 1120-S, or 1120 returns.
- Experience reviewing accounting or tax work.
- International tax exposure.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
