Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Tax Accountant to join the Accounting team at our Lenexa, KS headquarters. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role will ensure the timely completion and filing of all required tax returns, and manage compliance activities such as annual registrations, government surveys, and third-party requests.

The Senior Tax Accountant will collaborate with Accounting and Finance teams and senior leadership to manage the global tax compliance calendar, coordinate with third-party tax advisors, and prepare necessary documentation for accurate and timely filings.

The ideal candidate must have proven experience with domestic tax compliance, international tax experience is strongly preferred. This role requires a strong leader and communicator capable of working in a fast-paced environment, managing deadlines, and working with talented professionals. The candidate should be highly organized, self-motivated, capable of working independently and in teams, with a solid background in income tax and other tax types.

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate activities with tax advisors, including accounting firms, statutory agencies, and consultants.
  • Manage the global tax calendar to ensure proper and timely filing of all tax returns.
  • Provide schedules for external accountants for quarterly and annual tax provisions for domestic and international operations.
  • Forecast tax liabilities and payments based on transactions and business plans.
  • Assist external accountants with support and documentation for tax disclosures in annual audits.
  • Provide technical support for domestic and international tax matters, staying current on relevant laws and monitoring changes.
  • Manage internal controls related to tax functions.
  • Build strong relationships with internal leadership and external advisors.
  • Ensure timely statutory and regulatory filings in all countries.
  • Prepare work papers and schedules for tax filings in the US, Switzerland, UK, Australia, and Canada.
  • Review and verify tax forms prepared by external accountants.
  • Handle monthly and quarterly VAT and GST filings globally.
  • Manage annual reporting in various states.
  • Perform the year-end 1099 process and ensure compliance.
Qualifications

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or similar; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional tax experience; experience in a public accounting firm preferred.
  • Experience with fast-growing startups or international companies is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of U.S. tax laws, return preparation, and research skills.
  • Experience with tax estimates, provisions, and return preparation.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical skills, and advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Broad experience across accounting and tax issues.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, with problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with international tax filings, including GST and VAT, is a plus.
