Leadership and Tech Recruiting at McMaster-Carr

Who We Are

McMaster-Carr is a leading e-commerce company that industrial customers have trusted for over 120 years. Our products help them get manufacturing lines back up quickly, keep operations running smoothly, and prototype the next generation of innovative solutions. We earn and keep that trust by offering the right products, making them easy to find, and delivering them fast, so our customers can solve problems with greater speed, precision, and ease.

Our industry-leading e-commerce experience, indispensable product selection, and world-class service bring hundreds of thousands of customers to our site each day. But we’re never standing still. Our curious, exceptional people are at the heart of our evolution. They turn new challenges and disruptive technologies into opportunities to refine our operations, expand our offering, and deliver a better experience for every customer.

How You’ll Make an Impact

You’ll shape how McMaster-Carr discovers and engages great talent in an increasingly competitive and dynamic market. Your insights will help the business anticipate future needs, make smarter hiring decisions, and build stronger pipelines for critical roles. By combining research, strategy, and execution, you’ll elevate the sourcing function, turning data and experimentation into actionable recruiting strategies that improve both speed and quality of hire.

You’ll also help cultivate a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the recruiting team. Over time, this role offers the opportunity to grow into people leadership, expanding your impact by developing others and scaling sourcing excellence across the organization.

What You’ll Do

As the Lead Talent Intelligence & Sourcing Strategist, you’ll design and drive how we identify, understand, and engage talent across a wide range of roles. You’ll combine deep market analysis with creative sourcing tactics and emerging AI-driven tools to help our recruiters make faster, smarter, and more informed decisions. You’ll be at the forefront of shaping how AI and human expertise come together to elevate the craft of recruiting.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Partner with recruiters and hiring leaders to translate business goals into targeted sourcing strategies.
  • Build creative, data-informed approaches to identify and engage top talent for leadership and specialized roles.
  • Design and refine outreach frameworks and prospect management systems that strengthen long-term pipelines.
  • Leverage AI and automation to enhance efficiency, personalization, and insight—testing new workflows and scaling what works.
  • Conduct in-depth market research, including organizational mapping and geographic talent availability.
  • Generate talent intelligence that informs recruiting strategy, workforce planning, and business decisions.
  • Analyze sourcing performance and build visual dashboards that surface trends, measure effectiveness, and guide strategic pivots.
  • Experiment with AI-assisted research and data analysis to uncover hidden patterns and opportunities within talent markets.
  • Serve as the functional expert for sourcing platforms, data tools, and AI solutions—evaluating new technologies and guiding adoption.
  • Build lightweight playbooks and shareable workflows that make advanced sourcing techniques accessible to the broader team.
  • Mentor and upskill sourcers by sharing methods, tools, and frameworks that raise the quality and consistency of our pipelines.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Recruiting Operations, Technology, and business leadership to drive sourcing innovation and continuous improvement.

Who You Are

You’re energized by uncovering talent markets and helping the business find exceptional people. You think like a strategist—curious about how industries move, where talent lives, and how to connect the right people to the right opportunities. You take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks, and balance curiosity with precision, creativity with structure, and vision with execution.

You’re excited by the power of technology, especially AI, to transform how recruiting teams work. You don’t see AI as a replacement for good judgment, you see it as a force multiplier for insight, speed, and scale. You’re eager to explore new tools, test ideas, and lead the discovery of how LLMs and automation can make sourcing smarter, faster, and more human.

You’re driven by both the human side of recruiting and the business impact of great hires. You build trust, share context, and elevate those around you. What matters most is how you think, how you learn, and how you lead. If you’re ready to push boundaries, shape sourcing strategy, and grow your influence, McMaster-Carr offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact.
