Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation seeks a Tailings Engineer (Senior Tailings Engineer or Tailings Engineer) to support tailings management at the Fort Knox mine. The role emphasizes deposition planning, water balance, TARPs, and reporting across Mine Engineering and Environmental teams.

The ideal candidate has a civil/mining/geological engineering background with 8+ years in tailings facilities and familiarity with GISTM/ICMM; proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and related tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mining, Geological Engineering or related field
• Experience with tailings storage facilities in mining, 8+ years preferred
• Knowledge of GISTM, ICMM, MAC, CDA; ADNR-DS preferred
• Familiarity with tailings monitoring instruments and data interpretation
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and presentations

Responsibilities

• Implement tailings management system for Valley Fill and Pit Bottom TSFs
• Develop TSF deposition and water management plans
• Coordinate with Ore Processing, Water Treatment and Mine Engineering
• Interpret monitoring data and communicate conclusions
• Verify data collection and management procedures
• Collaborate with Environmental team on water balance forecasts
• Review performance and recommend operational changes
• Prepare quarterly reports and reconcile TSF planning assumptions
• Lead Tailings Steering Committee meetings and present KPIs
• Liaise with Engineer of Record and review technical documentation
• Lead facility inspections and participate in improvements
• Keep current on tailings and mine waste management developments
• Maintain accurate records and files
• Meet performance expectations and maintain punctuality
• Possess valid driver's license and fill in for Chief Geotechnical Engineer
