Job Title: Senior Tableau Developer

Overview

We are seeking an innovative and experienced Senior Tableau Developer Contractor to

collaborate with our cross-functional team. This role requires a blend of creative thinking, strong

data visualization skills, and expert knowledge of Tableau best practices. The ideal candidate

will have a proven track record in working with diverse database data sources, writing complex

SQL queries, and implementing robust security measures. You will be instrumental in

transforming complex business requirements into visually compelling, intuitive dashboards while

ensuring the highest standards of data integrity and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Visualization & Dashboard Development:
• Design and develop interactive, user-friendly Tableau dashboards and

visualizations that cater to business needs.

• Create custom visualizations and innovative solutions to present complex data in

a clear and actionable manner.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and

deliver actionable insights.

• Data Integration & SQL Expertise:
• Write and optimize advanced SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze

large datasets from multiple data sources.

• Work with various database systems (e.g., Dremio, MySQL, PostgreSQL,

Redshift etc.) ensuring seamless integration with Tableau.

• Develop data models and connections that best serve the visualization needs and

optimize performance.

• Security & Compliance:
• Implement and maintain row-level security in Tableau to ensure data is accessed

appropriately based on user privileges.

• Integrate Okta authentication to provide secure access to Tableau dashboards.
• Leverage Tableau security best practices to align with overall IT and data

governance policies.

• CI/CD and Development Best Practices:
• Collaborate with the IT and DevOps teams to incorporate Tableau development

into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring smooth deployment and version control.

• Implement automated testing and continuous monitoring practices to streamline

development and deployment processes.

• Document technical specifications, development procedures, and processes for

ongoing maintenance.• Business Analysis & Collaboration:

• Work closely with business analysts, data scientists, and IT staff to ensure

solutions align with strategic business goals.

• Provide expertise and support in translating business requirements into technical

solutions.

• Offer insights and recommendations based on data-driven analysis and industry

best practices.

• Contractor Collaboration:
• Function as a subject matter expert and resource for internal teams during the

contract period.

• Adapt quickly to project changes and work independently in a fast-paced,

entrepreneurial environment.

• Communicate progress, challenges, and findings effectively with team members

and management.

Required Qualification Technical Skills:

• Extensive experience with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Cloud.
• Strong SQL skills with proven ability to write complex queries.
• Solid background in working with diverse relational databases.
• Hands-on experience with complex row-level security implementation.
• Experience integrating Okta for authentication and Single Sign-On (SSO)

solutions.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated deployment

processes.

• Comprehensive understanding of Tableau security best practices.
• Soft Skills:
• Demonstrated creative thinking and ability to design innovative data

visualizations.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with diverse

teams.

• Ability to manage projects independently and deliver on tight deadlines.
• Capacity to quickly understand and align with evolving business needs.
• Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in Tableau development and data visualization.
• Proven experience working in a contracting or consulting role is a plus.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering projects that involve multiple data

sources and complex analytical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data

Analytics, or a related field.

• Knowledge of additional BI tools (e.g., Microstrategy) is advantageous.
• Experience in industries such as finance, healthcare, or technology where data security is

critical.

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
