Job summary

Shield AI in Dallas is seeking a Software Systems Test Engineer to drive integration testing of our aircraft software, uniting autonomy, flight controller, and ground control to qualify an intelligent system. You will shape test strategies, verify system readiness, and ensure robust performance before flight.

You will design complex test scenarios, develop Python-based analyzers, and deliver coverage and release-readiness reports that support reliable operations in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 5+ years in testing complex integrated software systems, or Masters with 4+ years, or PhD with 2+ years.
• Experience with test automation and automating tests, preferably using simulation for automated integration testing.
• Experience with the software product development lifecycle, ideally for autonomy or vehicle systems.

Responsibilities

• Generate detailed mission test scenarios that mimic real-world conditions to validate autonomy and flight control software performance.
• Participate in design reviews for new features and design detailed test plans based on requirements
• Conduct and manage system verification and validation events, culminating in flight readiness.
• Write test analyzers in Python to report and benchmark performance and qualification metrics
• Produce test coverage and release-readiness reports by aggregating test cases, results, and quality requirements
• Recommend improvements to simulation models and fault injection prior to flight.
