Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Systems Security Engineer (SSE) – P3 to join the SSE Sensors, Space, & Air department in El Segundo, CA. The role focuses on Anti-Tamper and embedded cybersecurity to ensure secure DoD‑class systems reach end users.

You will lead and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external customers, delivering secure products on schedule while traveling up to 25%. You will develop requirements, perform trade studies, and craft verification and validation plans, reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
• Experience in Anti-Tamper, Cybersecurity, or Software Assurance.
• 3+ years in Systems/Software Engineering architecture, requirements, and development.
• Experience with real-time embedded security solutions on DoD programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform CPI analysis.
• Generate SSE requirements and analysis.
• Document SSE trade-studies and provide path forward recommendations.
• Create systems engineering models and diagrams (functional block, sequence, activity).
• Develop the Anti‑Tamper Plan for the program.

Job description

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Systems Security Engineer (SSE) - P3 to join the SSE Sensors, Space, & Air department. The team member will apply their technical knowledge and expertise in the fields of Anti-Tamper and embedded Cybersecurity to ensure secure products are delivered to the end-user. The SSE will be responsible for individual and team leadership contributions to execute program deliverables and milestones, including communications and briefings with internal stakeholders, leadership, and external customers. The candidate will follow the Raytheon Systems Engineering processes to develop, design, integrate, test, and evaluate security solutions within embedded systems. Must be able to work independently and be a motivated self-starter. The individual must work in classified areas, with up to 25% travel required. This is an onsite position at Raytheon in El Segundo, CA.

What You Will Do

• Perform Critical Program Information (CPI) analysis
• Perform SSE requirements generation, derivation, decomposition, and analysis
• Perform and document SSE trade‑studies and provide path forward recommendations
• Generate systems engineering modeling and artifacts, including functional block, sequence, and activity diagrams
• Develop the program Anti‑Tamper Plan
• Develop and execute Verification and Validation (V&V) Plans and Procedures
• Present in internal and external customer reviews and program milestones
• Report tasking status and communications with program and functional leadership
• Travel up to 25% as necessary

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
• Experience with design/development/implementation in at least one of the following areas: Anti‑Tamper (HW, SW, Systems), Cybersecurity, Software Assurance
• A minimum of 3 years of progressive technical (hands‑on) experience related to Systems/Software Engineering architecture, requirements, determination, development, and implementation
• Experience in designing, implementing, testing and fielding real‑time embedded security‑oriented solutions on Department of Defense (DoD) programs with secure systems technologies, methodologies, policies and guidelines

Qualifications We Prefer

• A Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Computer Science or Engineering Science
• Knowledge in generating systems requirements, design and architecture artifacts, plans and/or policies
• Knowledge in Software, Firmware, & Microelectronics Engineering, Cryptography and FPGA design
• Broad understanding of technology and working knowledge of DODI‑S‑5230.28
• Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering Tools such as CAMEO
• Candidate must exhibit ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness
• Experience contributing in a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to technical problems
