Raytheon is seeking a Principal Systems Security Engineer (SSE) - P4 to join the SSE Sensors, Space, & Air department in Goleta, CA. The role focuses on Anti-Tamper and embedded cybersecurity to ensure secure products for end users.

The SSE will lead and contribute to program deliverables, including communications with stakeholders and external customers, following Raytheon SE processes to develop, design, integrate, test, and evaluate security solutions in embedded systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM and 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship.
  • Experience with Anti-Tamper, Cybersecurity, or Software Assurance.
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive Systems/Software Engineering experience.
  • Experience designing, implementing, testing, and fielding real-time embedded security solutions on DoD programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CPI analysis.
  • Generate SSE requirements and perform derivation and decomposition.
  • Document SSE trade-studies and present path forward recommendations.
  • Create systems engineering models and artifacts (functional block, sequence, activity diagrams).
  • Develop the program Anti-Tamper Plan and V&V Plans/Procedures.
  • Present at internal and external reviews and milestones.
  • Report task status to leadership; travel up to 25%.

Job description

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Systems Security Engineer (SSE) - P4 to join the SSE Sensors, Space, & Air department. The team member will apply their technical knowledge and expertise in the fields of Anti-Tamper and embedded Cybersecurity to ensure secure products are delivered to the end-user. The SSE will be responsible for individual and team leadership contributions to execute program deliverables and milestones, including communications and briefings with internal stakeholders, leadership, and external customers. The candidate will follow the Raytheon Systems Engineering processes to develop, design, integrate, test, and evaluate security solutions within embedded systems. Must be able to work independently and be a motivated self-starter. The individual must possess and maintain an active DoD Secret security clearance and work in classified areas. This is an onsite position at Raytheon in Goleta, CA.

What You Will Do
  • Perform Critical Program Information (CPI) analysis
  • Perform SSE requirements generation, derivation, decomposition, and analysis
  • Perform and document SSE trade-studies and provide path forward recommendations
  • Generate systems engineering modeling and artifacts, including functional block, sequence, and activity diagrams
  • Develop the program Anti-Tamper Plan
  • Develop and execute Verification and Validation (V&V) Plans and Procedures
  • Present in internal and external customer reviews and program milestones
  • Report tasking status and communications with program and functional leadership
  • Travel up to 25% as necessary

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued DoD Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Experience with design/development/implementation in at least one of the following areas: Anti-Tamper (HW, SW, Systems), Cybersecurity, Software Assurance
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive technical (hands‑on) experience related to Systems/Software Engineering architecture, requirements, determination, development, and implementation
  • Experience designing, implementing, testing, and fielding real‑time Embedded security-oriented solutions on Department of Defense (DoD) programs.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related fields
  • Experience in developing Anti-Tamper, Cyber Security, and/or Program Protection requirements, architectures and plans
  • Familiarity with software, firmware, microelectronics engineering, cryptography and FPGA design
  • Expertise in attack threat modeling and Critical Program Information (CPI) assessments
  • Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, GSLC or CEH in accordance with DoDD 8570/8140
  • Working knowledge of DoD directives such as DODI-S-5230.28
  • Experience in aircraft/weapons system integration
