Job summary

ABB Energy Industries is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead and/or act as design authority for Process Automation projects across Renewable, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Power & Water sectors in the US and globally. You will ensure successful Distributed Control System delivery on time, within budget, and per safety guidelines, reporting to Engineering Manager in a hybrid Cleveland, OH role.

The position emphasizes technical leadership, customer collaboration, and the ability to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical engineering or computer science.
• 5+ years of experience in engineering, working as an engineer with distributed control systems.
• Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes, and tools.
• Strong focus on safe work practices and dedication to following workplace safety guidelines.
• High level of self-motivation, curiosity, and a desire to learn about new technologies.
• Collaborative approach to working, demonstrating strong communication and leadership skills.
• Candidates must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Applicants must have work authorization to work permanently in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Relocation reimbursement is not available.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with customers to shape and deliver solutions, and use feedback to drive delivery of improvements for medium-complex projects.
• Resolve technical issues both remotely and at customer sites in the US and abroad.
• Assist Project Managers with claims, customer specifications and safety standards, as well as technical details, costs, and deliverables for sales proposals.
• Cost-effectively execute Distributed Control System project deliverables on time in accordance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
• Design, test and commission automation enclosures, control logic and human-machine interfaces with ABB or third-party control systems.
• Create and deliver work plans, budgets, and risk assessments.
• Develop, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and tools, reporting inefficiencies, and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Travel approximately up to 25% of the time.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $79,800 and $127,680 annually.
