Job summary

Leidos is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer SME to lead the Chinook program, shaping the technical vision and architecture for a mission-critical application. You will supervise engineering teams, ensure cloud-based system reliability, and mentor staff to uphold engineering excellence.

You will interact with end users, government managers, and cross-functional teams to drive modernization, risk management, and performance improvements, leveraging AI for optimization where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; 12–15 years of experience, or Master’s with 10–13 years; Doctorate in technical domain optional.
• 12+ years of progressive systems engineering experience on software-intensive/enterprise systems.
• Experience leading technical teams and influencing engineering strategy.
• Deep knowledge of systems architecture, integration, lifecycle engineering, and systems thinking.
• Experience in Agile and DevSecOps environments; strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead and systems engineering authority for the customer application.
• Define system architecture, engineering standards, roadmaps, and modernization strategies.
• Manage and maintain cloud-based application systems for high availability, reliability, and performance.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
• Evaluate AI tool opportunities for troubleshooting and monitoring.
• Lead requirements analysis, system design, integration, verification, and validation.
• Guide technical decision-making across cross-functional teams.
• Evaluate emerging technologies for innovative system capabilities.
• Lead risk identification, mitigation planning, and trade studies.
• Mentor systems engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Partner with leadership to align technical solutions with mission objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement for performance, scalability, and security.
