Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for the watchOS team in San Diego. You will work across firmware, kernel, and higher layers to architect, optimize, and prototype core OS features. You’ll model memory for a new SoC, investigate power/performance issues, and build tools to help all engineers analyze performance and memory.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Performance, Power, OS, and Hardware teams, and involves tackling open-ended problems with innovative software solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years industry experience.
• Strong software development and lifecycle management.
• Experience with low-level OS systems (kernel, Darwin or drivers).
• Deep experience with power and performance measurement.
• Solid computer science fundamentals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with a technical team.

Responsibilities

• Work across system software stack from firmware to applications to create new experiences by leveraging hardware.
• Establish SW’s needs for future hardware by modeling memory demand over the lifetime of a new SoC.
• Engage in investigative and research-like projects to prototype solutions for complex problems.
• Diagnose and address issues in language, runtime, kernel layers and daemons.
• Implement new software components, frameworks, and applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and ship new features.
