Job summary

Saab, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team in East Syracuse, NY, to develop complex electronic surveillance systems for commercial and government customers.

This role focuses on leading design investigations, coordinating with stakeholders, and guiding radar product development to meet safety and performance goals. A strong background in engineering and embedded systems is essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in safety-critical industries (e.g., aerospace, defense).
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with requirements management, system design, and system integration.
• Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, typically <2 weeks/year.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical investigation and top-level design for new feature development and change requests from internal/external stakeholders.
• Lead development of primary and secondary radar products for safety-critical surveillance worldwide.
• Develop and maintain specifications and technical documentation to support deliverables and processes.
• Balance competing interests from multiple stakeholder groups.
• Coordinate with product development management to hit technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
• Develop and propose new technologies to enhance product performance.
• Support technical and cost proposal preparation for future programs.
