Overview
As a Systems Engineer, you will be a key member of a technical team responsible for the system definition, design, integration and test of next‑generation inertial measurement and navigation products/solutions for use in aircraft, UAVs, missiles, land vehicles, and sea platforms. This role will also lead and oversee Model Based System Engineering development activities.
Responsibilities
- The selected Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) will turn Customer requirements and needs into digital models.
- Communicate with Customers and Engineering IPTs to establish product features and capabilities, applying digital engineering technologies for rapid assessment and deployment of capability.
- Apply skills in system design, data analysis, behavior assessment against requirements, and presentation/visualization methods to help the System Analyst understand results and take corrective actions.
- Understand IDT's technologies and how to apply them to a Customer's products to accelerate development, test, deployment, and in‑service upgrade.
- Demonstrate ability to perform system development activities within a certified quality management environment, adhering to defined work procedures and instructions.
Essential Functions
- Create engineering artifacts and develop models of systems using a MBSE tool suite that includes Cameo EA and other systems engineering tools.
- Integrate enterprise tools and develop MBSE‑based processes to support requirements engineering, schedule management, test and verification strategy development, and system integration of new initiatives.
- Facilitate collaboration between the MBSE users and the tool development team to communicate modeling needs and help innovate potential solutions.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to managers regarding the creation and implementation of new MBSE methods and techniques.
- Support new product development processes and discipline across the company.
- Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, judgment, cooperation, and ability to communicate technical information.
- Perform assigned tasks within the defined project schedule and cost.
- Support senior project engineers and program managers in interfacing with both commercial and military customers in technical program definition and execution.
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and personal leadership abilities.
- Support new business pursuits and proposal preparation addressing program technical requirements and associated schedule and cost.
- Travel: ~15% for customer reviews and meetings.
Critical Competencies
- Working knowledge of new product development processes gained through formal training or work experience.
- Working knowledge of inertial navigation and GPS functionality is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to be part of a team in definition, implementation, and demonstration of a solution when presented with a problem or set of problems.
- Use industry MBSE tools and modeling methodologies to successfully produce systems engineering models with associated processes in support of the system development life cycle.
- Knowledge of architecture, requirements engineering, CONOPS development, verification, test, and system integration to accommodate end‑to‑end systems engineering.
- Perform assigned tasks within the defined project schedule and cost.
- Drive for results, action oriented.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Science/Engineering or Master of Science/Engineering in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 2+ years' experience in MBSE.
- 4+ years' experience in aerospace and/or defense systems engineering, integration, and test.
- Experience in requirements management, including capture, traceability, flow‑down, and decomposition to lower‑level requirements using IBM DOORS or a comparable tool.
- Strong knowledge (proficiency preferred) in Cameo AE, DOORS, Microsoft Office.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Salary range for this role in New Jersey is $106,000 - $150,000 annually. Final offer may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience and internal consistency.
