Job summary

SBS Creatix is seeking a production support/SRE-focused professional to maintain uptime, performance, and reliability across hybrid cloud and on-prem systems, including Tuxedo middleware. You will work with two Level 3 SREs to balance development and operations.

You will implement monitoring, participate in on-call rotations, help with capacity planning, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with architects on capacity and performance improvements.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of middleware configuration experience (Tuxedo a plus; Tomcat/WebLogic acceptable)
• 2+ years of Unix/Linux systems administration experience (AIX knowledge included)
• 2+ years of experience setting up and configuring monitoring
• 2+ years of scripting for automation (Shell/Bash, Python, Perl, PowerShell)
• 1+ years of experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, or similar tools
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
• Must reside in the U.S. (excluding Alaska and Hawaii)
• Must be able to work core business hours in U.S. Central Time
• Commitment to incorporating security into daily decisions

Job description

This is a production support/SRE-focused position supporting mission-critical, high-availability rental systems. You'll join a growing Site Reliability Engineering function, working alongside two Level 3 SREs to round out the team. The environment is a hybrid mix of cloud, web services, and legacy solutions, including systems running on Tuxedo middleware. You'll be responsible for uptime, performance, and reliability across these systems while helping bridge the gap between development and operations.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and maintain monitoring across participating systems, not just respond to existing alerts
• Support capacity planning and high-availability efforts
• Consult on performance and production issues, and communicate directly with management on status
• Participate in an on-call rotation for planned maintenance and outage response (currently informal, roughly one week on/two weeks off)
• Join all-hands production issue calls a few times a year
• Contribute to strategic capacity planning for the department
• Collaborate with architects on improvements to capacity, performance, and quality
• Provide and maintain technical documentation
• Mentor and guide less senior team members on new tasks and assignments

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience with middleware configuration and use (Tuxedo experience is a plus; comparable experience with Tomcat, WebLogic, or similar platforms is also acceptable)
• 2+ years of genuine Unix/Linux systems administration experience, including AIX (must be able to speak to real differences between Unix and Linux, not just list both)
• 2+ years of experience setting up and configuring monitoring, not only responding to existing monitors
• 2+ years of scripting experience for automation, system administration, or application support (Shell/Bash, Python, Perl, PowerShell, or similar)
• 1+ years of experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, or equivalent monitoring/observability tools
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship
• Must reside in the U.S. (excluding Alaska and Hawaii)
• Must be able to work core business hours in U.S. Central Standard Time
• Committed to incorporating security into daily decisions and responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field
• Pro*C/C experience (legacy code maintenance)
• Knowledge of system/infrastructure testing, troubleshooting, and capacity planning methodologies
• Familiarity with hardware concepts across infrastructure, including networking devices, topologies, and resiliency patterns
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Cloud database experience is a plus but not required (current environment is fully on-prem Oracle, with no near-term migration planned)
