Job summary

HeartFlow, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer III to own the research data pipeline, turning complex clinical questions into reliable datasets to advance algorithm and product research.

You will partner with Data Scientists, Research Scientists, and engineering teams to design data campaigns, manage annotation workflows, ensure ground-truth quality, and document datasets and provenance for auditability and reproducibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in research, systems engineering, or a related field, ideally in medical imaging or a regulated domain.
• Proven track record translating complex projects or research needs into executable programs and driving them from planning through delivery.
• Working knowledge of methods for evaluating data and experiment quality, including reproducibility and error detection.
• Solid understanding of medical image data structures and imaging workflows (e.g., DICOM).
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for building data pipelines, computing quality metrics, and producing dataset documentation.
• Exceptional ability to translate research requirements into executable annotation campaigns and report data provenance.

Responsibilities

• Own data campaigns for research, from ideation to delivery.
• Own the annotation process end to end, including workflow, software, and steps from ingestion to delivery.
• Define and monitor data quality and reproducibility across campaigns.
• Partner with Data Scientists, Research Scientists, Process Engineering, Product, Clinical, and Regulatory teams.
• Translate research initiatives into data requirements and plan campaigns with timelines and dependencies.
• Promote Systems Engineering best practices across the organization.
