SMX is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) Training Systems to support the Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS II) / ATLaS program at Patuxent River NAS, Lexington Park, MD. The role is hybrid with local telework and on-site as required.

Requires TS/SCI eligibility and 10+ years in engineering, with DoD experience. A technical MS/MA or BS with extensive relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Requires Top Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility a plus.
• MS/MA in technical/science or BS with additional years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide programmatic or technical leadership for engineering solutions.
• Apply systems engineering methods to develop complex systems.
• Assist with the LVC architecture and interfaces.
• Address questions on LVC (aircraft, simulations, synthetic environment).
• Establish configuration control for TCTS II interfaces to weapons models and aircraft.
• Plan and implement PMA-205 portions of the LVC CRD and guide development.

Job description

SMX is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) Training Systems to support the Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS II) / ATLaS program within the Naval Aviation Training Systems and Ranges Program Office (PMA-205) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD.

PMA-205 provides full lifecycle acquisition of naval aviation platforms and general training systems, training range instrumentation systems, and distributed mission training centers. The TCTS II is a next generation secure, Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) enabling, air combat training system that offers realistic threat scenarios and secure cross-service training.

This position is hybrid with local telework and on-site at NAS Patuxent River as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs programmatic or technical leadership roles in an organization, identifying, formulating, designing, and/or testing practical solutions to engineering problems
• Employs systems engineering methods and tools in the development of advanced complex systems
• Assists with the LVC architecture
• Address emerging technical and architecture questions regarding the Live (aircraft)-Virtual (simulations)-Constructive (synthetic threat) LVC elements
• Sets up processes for configuration control of interfaces between the TCTSII ground system and weapons models/constructive entity generating software systems
• Sets up processes for configuration control of the interfaces between the TCTSII system and the aircraft.
• Plan for and implement the PMA-205 portions of the LVC Capabilities Requirements Document (CRD)
• Guides the engineering development of modern complex systems

Required Skills & Experience

• Clearance Required: Top Secret
  • TS/SCI eligibility is a plus - this program will require access to SAP and potentially SCI programs.
  • US Citizenship is required for work on DoW contract
• Technical or Scientific MS or MA degree from an accredited college or university
  • Technical or Scientific BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university and an additional four (4) years of recent and relevant experience
• At least ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering position, three (3) of which must be directly related to DoD systems.
• Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Clear communications and teamwork skills working in a collaborative environment

$105,000—$145,000 USD
