Job summary

Boston Scientific is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer for its IVL platform within the ICVT division. You will lead architecture, requirements, integration, and verification across hardware, software, optics, and disposable devices to deliver Class II/III medical devices from concept to commercialization.

The role requires deep engineering principles, hands-on development, and mentorship across disciplines, with on-site work and up to 20% travel to support cross-site collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 7+ years in engineering with technology or complex system development.
• 5+ years leading cross-functional engineering teams.
• 5+ years in systems engineering for hardware/software integration.
• Experience with requirements, architecture, interfaces, verification & traceability.
• Experience with Class II/III medical devices and Design Controls.
• Knowledge of ECOs, CAPAs, and regulatory documentation.
• Experience with Jama, DOORS, Jira or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical development for the IVL platform across hardware, software, optics, and disposables.
• Define system requirements, architecture, interfaces, performance and usability.
• Decompose requirements and ensure traceability from user needs to validation.
• Drive integration and verification across all system subsystems.
• Manage interfaces to ensure seamless system function and performance.
• Conduct system trade studies, feasibility, simulations, and risk reduction.
• Develop test strategies and system characterization methods.
• Plan and document integration, verification and validation activities.
• Perform root cause analysis across disciplines and coordinate resolutions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align with requirements and goals.
• Lead technical reviews and mentor engineers across disciplines.
• Support risk management, ECOs, CAPAs, and design reviews.
• Contribute to regulatory submissions and lifecycle activities.
• Ensure compliance with medical device standards and electrical safety.
• Build multi-site collaboration and facilitate timely product delivery.
• Travel up to 10–20% for development, testing, and supplier interactions.
