Job summary

RTX’s Fort Wayne-based Systems Engineering role focuses on secure, cross-domain technologies for mission-critical systems. You will collaborate with SW/HW/Cyber teams to mature security-hardened products from design through test and accreditation.

You will contribute to agile execution plans, manage risks, and participate in product demos and reviews, enabling timely, high-quality deliveries in a defense context.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • Active U.S. government security clearance required before start date
  • U.S. citizenship required for security clearance eligibility
  • Experience in Agile or DevOps development environments with integrated teams
  • Experience in system design, requirements management, risk management, interfaces, integration and test

The Secure Processing Solutions (SPS) department is responsible for the design, test, and certification of cross-domain technologies and cryptographic products that equip our warfighters to thrive in today’s multi-domain battlespace. Our department collaborates with portfolio teams across the organization to help capture new business and create security-hardened solutions that address our customers’ demanding needs. The SPS Systems Engineering team seeks a Systems Engineer with a passion for innovation and the drive to see new technology and capability matured into fielded solutions. This role will contribute to a team responsible for systems and cyber security engineering tasks related to our next-generation security-enabled mission computing, crypto, and cross-domain technologies, maturing products from low TRL through a program of record accreditation and factory production. What You Will Do:
  • Collaborate with a dynamic, cross-functional team of professionals and stakeholders to design and develop innovative Cross Domain Solutions products, ensuring seamless integration and performance
  • Lead and actively contribute to the secure systems development lifecycle, including conducting trade studies, defining system design, allocating and tracing requirements, and performing verification testing and qualification activities
  • Play a key role in the development and implementation of AGILE execution plans, ensuring alignment with program cost, schedule, and performance objectives while identifying and mitigating risks and variances
  • Manage cost accounts for assigned scope, monitor and report on cost and schedule performance, track key metrics, and proactively address issues and concerns to maintain program success
  • Facilitate and actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint reviews, user story refinement, and product demos, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with project goals

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Experience working in an Agile or DevOps development environment and being part of highly integrated Agile teams working closely with multiple engineering development teams (SW, HW, Cyber, SYS)
  • Experience with performing system design, requirements management, technical risk management, interface definition, integration and test, and subsystem level integration
  • Experience working multiple projects and being responsible for multiple concurrent project milestones with overlapping deadlines
  • Experience in Systems Engineering process development and deployment.
  • Experience using the Atlassian resource suite, specifically: Jira and Confluence
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools
  • Systems engineering experience executing development of security hardened systems/products within a classified development environment
  • Recent and relevant experience with the secure systems engineering development process including requirements capture, design, decomposition, integration, verification, and validation
  • Systems support to software application development, hardware development, application integration

Travel expectations up to 10%

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
