Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to deliver digital ecosystem and MBSE expertise for DoD missions from its Arsenal, Alabama site. The role involves API integration, cloud architectures, and secure data exchange across complex systems.

You will lead onboarding of external software, model-based tools, and AI capabilities, while developing AI-ready data pipelines and enterprise dashboards for warfighter advantages. Requires a security clearance and a strong DoD background.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in STEM required.
• 12+ years of related experience in software integration or systems engineering.
• Active or Interim Secret clearance required.
• Experience with API design and integration.
• Working knowledge of MBSE and SysML.
• Experience building enterprise dashboards.
• Experience with cloud environments and container technologies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and accelerate delivery of operational capabilities via API integration, cloud architecture, and MBSE.
• Lead onboarding and integration of external software, models, simulations, AI tools, and operational capabilities.
• Design secure API-based integrations and data exchange architectures.
• Develop AI-enabled digital ecosystems for human-machine teaming.
• Create integration architectures linking APIs, data services, semantic layers, knowledge graphs, and AI orchestration frameworks.
• Implement semantic data models and ontologies to improve AI reasoning and data discoverability.
• Build AI-ready data pipelines transforming structured/unstructured data into knowledge assets.
• Integrate LLMs, agentic AI frameworks, and workflow automation into enterprise environments.
• Develop enterprise dashboards and common operational pictures.
• Support MBSE activities using SysML and activity/block diagrams.
• Develop common data models and integration standards.
• Support tactical interoperability including Link 16 and gateway architectures.
• Support DevSecOps pipelines and cloud-native deployments.
• Provide technical recommendations to government leadership.

AV is looking for a highly talented Senior Systems Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to provide digital ecosystem, cloud architecture, and Model-based System Engineering (MBSE) expertise in support of the Missile Defense Agency Chief Digital Officer (CDO) mission.

Description:

• Able to combine expertise in API integration, cloud architecture, model-based systems engineering, dashboard development, DevSecOps, tactical interoperability, and digital engineering to coordinate and accelerate delivery of operational capabilities.
• Lead onboarding and integration of external software, models, simulations, AI tools, and operational capabilities.
• Design and implement secure API-based integrations and data exchange architectures.
• Design and implement AI-enabled digital ecosystems supporting human-machine teaming.
• Develop integration architectures connecting APIs, data services, semantic layers, knowledge graphs, and AI orchestration frameworks.

Required Qualifications

• 12+ years related experience in software integration, systems engineering, or enterprise architecture.

• Working knowledge of MBSE and SysML.
• Experience building enterprise dashboards.
• Experience with cloud environments and container technologies.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience supporting DoD programs.
• Experience with Cameo, MagicDraw, Sparx EA, or Rhapsody.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, or Kibana.
• Experience with Kubernetes, GitLab, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Link 16, tactical data links, and C2 architectures.
• Knowledge of AI-enabled workflows and digital engineering ecosystems to include Semantic Search, RAG Architectures, LLM Integration, Agentic AI Frameworks, AI Orchestration Platforms, and Data Fabric Architectures.
