The Air Combat Test & Training (ACTT) Engineering Department specializes in developing state‑of‑the‑art products for cryptographic, datalink, networking, and command‑and‑control applications. Focused on U.S. military communication systems, navigation systems, and networks, we guide products from concept through accreditation and into production. Our work includes design, analysis, test, and certification, integrating systems into the Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) Training Environment. As part of the Mission Systems business, we tackle challenges such as next‑generation secure aircraft instrumentation, LVC for test and training, and product architectures of complex systems of systems.

The Cybersecurity and Training Missions Engineering Team within ACTT is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide technical excellence across rapidly growing Air Combat Training programs. This platform‑level role includes coordination across subsystem teams and stakeholders plus, opportunities for direct interaction with customers and end users. Our team culture is highly collaborative and uses a tailored version of the Scaled Agile Framework to meet our program goals.

What You Will Do
  • Lead and perform requirements verification activities, ensuring system requirements are complete, accurate, and fully traceable across the lifecycle
  • Develop verification test procedures and independently execute them in a secure lab environment, ensuring rigor and compliance
  • Conduct peer reviews of test procedures and design documentation, providing technical guidance and elevating engineering quality
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to align on program goals, resolve integration challenges, and support planning and execution
  • Communicate status, risks, and technical insights to stakeholders, influencing decisions on cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Develop and own system design approaches, coordinating with subject matter experts and modeling behaviors, interfaces, and architecture elements within an MBSE environment
  • Apply MBSE methods and tools to maintain digital consistency across requirements, architecture, and verification activities
  • Drive resolution of technical issues through structured problem‑solving, coordination, and timely closure
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through lessons learned, process refinements, and shaping future MBSE practices
  • Provide mentoring to early‑career engineers, particularly in MBSE techniques and modeling best practices
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Experience with requirements development, decomposition, traceability, and verification
  • Experience developing or executing test procedures within a lab or system‑level environments
  • Experience contributing to system integration activities or resolving system‑level technical issues
  • Familiarity with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools or practices
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with cryptographic, datalink, networking, or command‑and‑control applications
  • Experience with communication systems, navigation systems, or U.S. military networks
  • Experience designing, analyzing, testing, and certifying components within LVC Training Environments or on system‑of‑systems programs
  • Prior experience supporting accreditation, cybersecurity, or system security engineering
  • Experience working in Agile environments
  • Experience with DoD or international air combat training systems

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
