Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Defense Health Agency’s Solution Delivery Division. You will design, develop, test, and optimize end-to-end systems and lifecycle artifacts within secure health networks, integrating AI/ML into software delivery pipelines while complying with RMF and HIPAA.

You will collaborate with architects and engineers to assess solutions, maintain traceability, and advance modernization initiatives across DHA environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; 12 years with a high school diploma.
• Proven experience in technical documentation, system architecture, and engineering analysis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Department of Defense security clearance (ADP II Public Trust) or the ability to obtain one.
• Travel as needed to support conferences and/or as requested by Government client.
• Exceptional collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with test and evaluation processes for IT systems.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
• Must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

• System Administration & Engineering: Design, deploy, configure, and maintain DHA’s ALMT across development, test, and production environments.
• AI/ML Integration: Implement AI-driven automation, predictive analytics, and LLM tools within the DevSecOps pipeline.
• DevSecOps Pipeline Support: Build secure, automated workflows complying with RMF guidelines.
• System Monitoring & Optimization: Leverage AI monitoring to identify bottlenecks and vulnerabilities; reduce manual processes.
• Cybersecurity Compliance & Governance: Ensure configurations adhere to DHA policies, STIGs, and HIPAA; maintain ATO.
• Requirements Analysis: Evaluate business, operational, functional, and technical requirements.
• Engineering Documentation: Develop and maintain system diagrams, architecture, interface docs, baselines.
• Technical Assessment: Assess risks, performance limits, modernization opportunities, and tech refresh needs.
• Enhancement Evaluation: Review upgrades, migrations, and implementations for feasibility and impact.
• Collaboration: Work with architects, engineers, and stakeholders on designs and modernization.
• Review Support: Provide analysis during architecture, technical, and document reviews.
• Interoperability & Integration: Support system integrations across enterprise services.
• Traceability: Maintain traceability among mission needs and implemented solutions.
• Roadmap & Lifecycle Planning: Develop technical roadmaps, lifecycle plans, and transition strategies.
• Engineering Analysis: Conduct trade studies and market research to support decisions.
• Performance Assessment: Evaluate reliability, availability, maintainability, scalability, and OPS effects.
• Deployment Support: Assist in release planning, migrations, upgrades, and transitions.
• Verification & Validation: Support technical reviews and assessments.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies.
• Incident Support: Provide engineering support for incidents and root-cause analyses.
• Technology Monitoring: Track industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Technical Review Participation: Support reviews led by Government or stakeholders.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical docs and risk assessments for decision-making.
• Training & Mentorship: Guide DHA teams on ALMT and AI productivity tools.
