Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to guide multi-discipline teams across NSG/ASG and Federal Agencies in requirements engineering, solutions engineering, and integration. The role emphasizes leadership of both mid- and junior engineers and requires strong problem-solving and proactive work style.

Responsibilities include refining programs, assessing risks, and coordinating with government stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate GEOINT solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or 12+ years of Systems Engineer experience required.
  • 12+ years experience in DoD/IC Acquisition, Requirements, PPBES, or large complex System of Systems.
  • Experience with SE lifecycle and systems integration.
  • Ability to communicate with senior executives and leaders.
  • TS/SCI clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI and pass a poly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and technical support to the Director, International Solutions Office to improve mission prioritization, alignment, and integration.
  • Review existing programs and assist in refining processes to reduce operating time and improve techniques.
  • Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design systems and determine capabilities and interfaces.
  • Identify risks and blockers to integration and advise Government action to guide teams with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence concerning project specifications, activities and status.
  • Guide mid-level and junior engineers in requirements engineering, design, and testing across NSG, ASG and Federal Agencies.
  • Plan and trace user requirements, architectures, and automate or improve systems and review cloud service capabilities and scheduling.
  • Guide mid-level and junior systems engineers developing solution designs based on requirements and new technology.
  • Translate mission/customer needs into system requirements and solutions.
  • Assist Government in performing system integration activities.
  • Conduct AoAs, CoAs, Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments.
  • Support strategic technical planning, risk management, and interface design across programs.
  • Integrate multiple systems and services within Major System Acquisitions across boundaries.
  • Solve complex problems, lead teams and work independently with minimal supervision.

Job description

Responsibilities

Senior-level Systems Engineers guide engineering teams in taking a multi-discipline approach to requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, integration, test and evaluation, maintainability and analysis across the National System of Geospatial-intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-intelligence (ASG) and Federal Agencies to ensure timely and accurate GEOINT.

Duties include:

  • Provide strategic and technical support to the Director, International Solutions Office (TIP) to improve mission prioritization, alignment, and integration.
  • Review existing programs, integrated projects, and assist in making refinements, reducing operating time, and improve current techniques.
  • Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Ability to identify risks and blockers to systems integration activities, to advise the Government on course of action, and to guide integrated teams to address the risks and blockers with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence concerning project specifications, activities and status
  • Guides Mid-level and Junior-level system engineers performing requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, integration, test and evaluation, maintainability and analysis across the National System of Geospatial-intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-intelligence (ASG) and Federal Agencies.
  • Guides the planning, analysis/traceability of user requirements, architectures traceability, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review cloud service capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations.
  • Guides Mid-level and Junior-level system engineers developing solutions designs based on analysis of requirements and new technology.
  • Assists the Government in the capture and translation of mission and customer requirements/needs into systems/capability requirements and solutions.
  • Supports the analyses and allocation of requirements to systems architecture components and executing programs.
  • Assists the Government in performing systems integration activities.
  • Conducts Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Course of Actions (CoAs), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments.
  • Assists the Government in strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management and interface design.
  • Operates at the level of integrating multiple systems, services, processes, and interfaces within a Major Systems Acquisitions across organizational and agency boundaries.
  • Ability to solve complex problems, lead a team(s) and work independently and proactively with minimal supervision.

Location: This position is 100% onsite in Springfield or Chantilly, Virginia. Remote or hybrid work is not available.

Required
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Systems Engineering or in related technical or scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program, or 12+ years of Systems Engineer work experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in government or industry in relevant work areas including: DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, PPBES Process or system engineering of large complex System of Systems or Service Oriented Architecture/Cloud environments.
  • Experience with and strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience communicating and collaborating both within and external to organization, to include with senior executives and leaders.
  • TS/SCI clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI and pass a poly
Desired
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or in related technical or scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program.
  • Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering, processes, tools and languages.
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Frameworks.
  • INCOSE Certified System Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification.
  • Experience in the field of geospatial intelligence.
  • Licensure as a professional engineer.
  • Membership or leadership participation in any of the following professional organizations:
    • ACSM
    • ASCE
    • ASPRS
    • OGC
    • SAREM
    • USGIF
  • Demonstrated knowledge in photogrammetry, remote sensing, image science, information sciences, geographic information systems, geomatics, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the current NSG/ASG and NRO enterprises.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
