Job summary

Trace Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer at Scott AFB, Illinois, to provide Tier III systems administration and environment support for production A2G2 systems. The role requires sustaining servers, coordinating outages, and validating readiness for releases and mission events.

The candidate will work in a DoD environment, with strong emphasis on security controls, IA baselines, and DoD 8140 competencies. A Top Secret clearance and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of systems engineering or administration experience in enterprise environments.
• DoD 8140 qualifications and appropriate certifications or the ability to obtain them within six months.
• Active Top Secret clearance or higher, US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, maintain, and support servers in production and non-production environments.
• Plan outages, coordinate maintenance with GSOC, and analyze performance metrics.
• Assess hardware for changes and manage releases for mission events.

Overview

Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Scott AFB, Illinois

Trace Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide Tier III systems administration and environment support for production A2G2 systems and the Scott AFB IL. The engineer will sustain servers and platforms, coordinate outages, resolve complex problems, and evaluate system readiness for releases and mission events. The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.

• Install, support, maintain, and administer servers and other computer systems in production and non-production environments.
• Plan for and respond to service outages and coordinate scheduled maintenance with the GSOC.
• Assess whether existing hardware can support application changes and identify required products, hot fixes, and upgrades.
• Monitor, respond to, and update trouble tickets and provide ad hoc ticket-trend analysis.
• Analyze production performance metrics and provide recommendations to Government stakeholders.
• Coordinate system, application, component, and infrastructure problem resolution with relevant organizations and document outcomes.
• Capture, document, and verify test-environment requirements before mission or test events.
• Assess new products and releases and provide analysis and fielding recommendations.
• Administer environments using Government-authorized tools, methods, security controls, and configuration standards.

In accordance with the Illinois Equal Pay Act, the following pay scale and benefits information is being provided as required for positions subject to Illinois pay transparency requirements.

Salary Minimum: $85,000

Salary Maximum: $110,000

The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the Trace salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Qualifications

• Active, in-scope US Government issued Top Secret clearance (minimum); higher-level eligibility may be required based on assigned access.
• Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
• Candidates must meet the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role. DoD 8140 Work Role(s): 451 System Administrator, Proficiency Level: Advanced; and may qualify through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
• Qualifying 8140 credentials include a Masters or Ph.D degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity or Data Science or Information Systems or Information Technology or Software Engineering or completion of relevant military communications or network training.
• Qualifying 8140 certifications may include SecurityX / CASP+, CCNA, CCNP Security, CCSP, FITSP-O, GFACT or other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent DoD 8140-approved certifications applicable to the assigned work role may also be accepted.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
• Ability to work in a secure DoD environment and comply with applicable Air Force, installation, and program security requirements.
• 5+ years of systems engineering or administration experience supporting enterprise production environments.
• One of the following, or ability to obtain it within six months: Microsoft 365 Certified Enterprise Administrator Expert, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
• DoD-approved IA baseline certification commensurate with the position, or ability to obtain it within six months.
• Experience with server operations, virtualization, patching, troubleshooting, backups, performance analysis, and outage coordination.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Red Hat, VMware, classified networks, SIL environments, EACN, or A2G2.
• Experience with ServiceNow, automation, DISA STIGs, high availability, or disaster recovery.
• Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force customers.
• Experience supporting mission-essential communications in distributed, multi-site environments.
