Job summary

King County Department of Information Technology (KCIT) seeks Senior Software Engineers to design and deliver cloud-native solutions using Azure, Power Platform, Dynamics 365, Sitecore, and other technologies. You’ll also support legacy apps and act as Tier 3 escalation for complex issues.

Ideal candidates will have strong Microsoft tech expertise, collaborative mindset, and a commitment to public service, with hybrid onsite/remote work options in Washington.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience in the Microsoft development stack.
• Experience with Power Platform, Dynamics 365, Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET MVC/Web API/.NET Core, and EF.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frameworks like React or Angular.
• Hands-on experience with Azure services and database design (relational and non-relational).
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, and Git version control.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver cloud-native solutions using Microsoft Azure, Power Platform, Dynamics 365, and other technologies.
• Support and modernize legacy applications; act as Tier 3 escalation for complex issues.
• Develop web applications with React or Angular and maintain CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps.
• Create integrations using APIs/SDKs and manage documentation and training.
• Collaborate across teams and stay current with emerging technologies.

Job Duties

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

• Design and develop cloud-native applications usingMicrosoft Power Platform,Dynamics 365, andAzure services?(e.g., Logic Apps, Function Apps, App Service, API Management).
• Build and maintaincustom integrations and solutions using APIs, SDKs, and enterprise service layers.
• Develop and supportweb-based applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such asReact andAngular.
• Enhance and modernizelegacy applications across a variety of platforms and technologies.
• Develop and maintainCI/CD pipelines, source code, documentation, and work items usingAzure DevOps.
• Implement and supportDynamics 365 customizations, workflows, Power Automate flows, and model-driven apps.
• Serve as aTier 3 escalation point for complex technical issues within your application portfolio.
• Create and maintaintechnical and user documentation; provide training and knowledge transfer to team members and end users as needed.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and development practices; actively share knowledge and collaborate with peers across teams.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience developing solutions within theMicrosoft development stack, including several of the following:
• Microsoft Power Platform?(Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
• Dynamics 365?(model-driven apps, workflows, customizations)
• Microsoft Visual Studio,C#,ASP.NET MVC,ASP.NET Web API,.NET Core,Entity Framework 6+
• JavaScript,AJAX,HTML,CSS, and modern frameworks such asReact orAngular
• Experience withMicrosoft Azureservices, including:
• App Service, Logic Apps, Functions, API Management, and Service Bus
• Familiarity withrelational and non-relational data storagedesign and implementation.
• Hands-on experience withAgile methodologies,DevOps practices, andGit-based version control.
• Stronganalytical and problem-solving skills; ability to synthesize complex technical and business information.
• Excellentcommunication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in or withpublic sector organizations, particularly in a government or civic technology environment.
• Microsoft certifications in Azure, Power Platform, or Dynamics 365.

Supplemental Information:

Hybrid Work:The work associated with this position will be performed through a combination of onsite work and telecommuting. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support when working remotely.

Work Schedule:The normal work week for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered. This position is FLSA Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay.
