Job summary

Aptive Environmental in Provo, Utah is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our IT team. You will administer Windows Server environments, manage ServiceNow modules, and support enterprise security and device management platforms.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in systems engineering, strong scripting abilities, and solid networking knowledge. This full-time role offers a competitive salary and a robust benefits package within a dynamic, growth-focused culture.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in systems engineering or IT infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewall configurations.
  • Experience with at least one ServiceNow module (ITSM, CMDB, or Service Catalog).
  • Familiarity with MDM, IdP, endpoint security, and email security platforms.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and ability to work on multi-system issues independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows server environments, including Active Directory.
  • Monitor infrastructure health and performance; proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact end users.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code, automation scripts, and runbooks to improve operational efficiency (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Design, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN, wireless, and VPN environments including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Maintain network documentation including topology diagrams, IP address management (IPAM), and change logs.
  • Configure and customize ServiceNow modules including Incident, Problem, Change, Service Catalog, and ITSM workflows.
  • Develop and maintain custom applications, business rules, client scripts, UI policies, flow designer automations, and integrations.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver iterative improvements to the ServiceNow platform.
  • Manage ServiceNow instance administration including upgrades, cloning, performance tuning, and access controls.
  • Administer and support Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms for device enrollment, compliance, and app deployment.
  • Manage Identity Provider (IdP) services including SSO, MFA, and user lifecycle management.
  • Maintain and tune endpoint security solutions and coordinate incident response with the security partner.
  • Administer email security tools including spam filtering and anti-phishing policies.

Responsibilities Include

  • Maintain and tune endpoint security solutions (EDR/XDR, antivirus, device compliance) and coordinate incident response with the security partner
  • Administer email security tools including spam filtering and anti-phishing policies

Requirements
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in systems engineering, IT infrastructure, or a related technical role
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, firewalls) with hands-on configuration experience
  • Experience with at least one ServiceNow module (ITSM, CMDB, or Service Catalog), including configuration or development
  • Familiarity with MDM, IdP, endpoint security, and email security platforms
  • Strong scripting and automation skills in one or more of: PowerShell, Bash, Python, or JavaScript
  • Excellent troubleshooting methodology and the ability to work through complex, multi-system issues independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
