Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to administer OpenShift clusters and RHEL environments in a enterprise setting. You will patch, secure, monitor, and support critical business applications across Linux and AIX platforms, while automating configuration with Puppet and managing secure file transfers.

You will collaborate with development teams, lead disaster recovery exercises, and contribute to modernization initiatives, Azure migrations, and incident response.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
8+ years of IT experience with focus on systems engineering.
5+ years hands-on experience administering OpenShift and RHEL environments.
Experience supporting Linux and AIX enterprise applications.
Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Puppet.
Strong Bash scripting and process automation experience.
Experience managing SFTP, GPG, SSH keys, and secure file transfers.
Experience TLS certificate management and secure endpoint configurations.
Experience supporting disaster recovery planning, documentation, and testing.
Experience with infrastructure modernization, cloud transformation, or migrations.

Responsibilities

Administer and support OpenShift clusters hosting critical business applications.
Perform monthly patching and maintenance across OpenShift and RHEL environments.
Implement security changes and maintain compliance with enterprise standards.
Monitor platform health and identify operational risks and performance concerns.
Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues with development teams.
Provide production support for business-critical systems and services.
Manage and maintain RHEL servers supporting enterprise applications.
Support applications on Linux and AIX including JBoss/Tomcat/Solr/RabbitMQ.
Develop and maintain Puppet-based configuration management and CI/CD processes.
Automate OS configuration, deployment, and installations.
Design and support secure B2B file transfers using Bash scripting.
Manage GPG/SSH keys and automate secure file transfers.
Maintain TLS certificates across platforms.
Build and test disaster recovery capabilities and procedures.
Contribute to infrastructure modernization and cloud-readiness efforts.
Lead or assist in high-severity incident resolution.
Create technical docs, dependency maps, and runbooks.
Mentor peers and share engineering knowledge.

Design, build, and support secure B2B file transfer solutions using Bash scripting
Administer GPG and SSH keys and automate secure file transfer jobs
Maintain TLS certificates across OpenShift and RHEL platforms
Build and support disaster recovery capabilities, restoration procedures, and testing
Participate in infrastructure modernization, dependency mapping, system assessments, and Azure migration readiness
Lead or support complex troubleshooting and high-severity incident resolution
Create technical documentation, dependency maps, and recovery runbooks
Mentor peers and contribute to engineering-team knowledge sharing

Requirements

Must reside in the Omaha metropolitan area
8+ years of overall IT experience
5+ years of hands-on systems engineering, platform administration, or infrastructure support experience
Strong experience administering OpenShift and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments
Experience supporting enterprise applications hosted on Linux and AIX platforms
Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Puppet
Strong Bash scripting and process automation experience
Experience managing SFTP, GPG, SSH key administration, and secure file transfer services
Experience managing TLS certificates and secure endpoint configurations
Experience supporting disaster recovery planning, documentation, and testing
Experience participating in infrastructure modernization, migration readiness, or cloud transformation initiatives
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Ability to work independently and effectively across technical and business teams
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred

Core Competencies
