Senior Systems Engineer – Ground Control Station (Gen6 Flight Test)

Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality Systems Engineering artifacts for the autonomous UAM aircraft.
• Design and implement safety‑critical and non‑safety‑critical GCS and airborne communications systems.
• Support system requirements development, validation, and testing/verification for all GCS products.
• Define and document technical solutions and integration efforts with external partners, including flight‑test and aircraft software teams.
• Develop functions, architecture, and system interfaces while contributing to process strategy within a high‑performing team.
• Review safety‑critical system integration activities using best practices and lessons learned.
• Conduct trade studies to achieve efficient, optimized safety‑critical system architectures that meet performance, SWaP, and regulatory requirements (FAA/EASA).
• Work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in aircraft, avionics, autonomous vehicles or remotely‑piloted aircraft.
• Proficiency with Python, VSCode, Docker, and Polarion.
• Strong application of aviation documentation standards (manuals, CONOPS, test documentation).
• Ability to read and understand ICDs.
• Experience in requirements verification and HW/SW testing/debugging.
• Ability to read schematics and perform basic hardware debugging.
• Hands‑on experience defining system requirements to customer release.
• Strong understanding of Agile development processes.
• Familiarity with FAA‑certified systems and standards such as ARP4754A, DO‑160, DO‑178C, DO‑254, ARP4761, Part23/25, ACXX.1309 or similar.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.

Work Location & Model

• Hybrid: 3 days per week onsite at our MountainView office with flexibility for remaining days.

Compensation

• Base salary range: $147,000 – $184,000 per year, commensurate with experience and location.
