Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support complex systems engineering, requirements management, architecture, integration, verification, and lifecycle activities for mission-critical Government systems.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support complex systems engineering, requirements management, architecture, integration, verification, and lifecycle activities for mission-critical Government systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with requirements development and decomposition, DoDAF, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), system architecture, interface management, systems integration, verification and validation, and technical documentation. This individual will work closely with Government customers, software and hardware engineering teams, and other technical stakeholders throughout the complete system development lifecycle.

Eligible candidates may receive a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000, making this an exceptional opportunity to join a mission-critical team supporting national security initiatives.

What will you do?
  • Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure production systems are compatible with defined system architectures, including DoDAF and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Analyze stakeholder needs and translate operational objectives into system, functional, and technical requirements.
  • Derive detailed lower-level requirements from higher-level requirements and ensure they are complete, correct, unique, unambiguous, realizable, traceable, and verifiable.
  • Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation, including:
    • Systems Engineering Plans
    • Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs)
    • Requirements Specifications
    • Interface Control Documents
    • Concepts of Operations (CONOPS)
    • System integration and verification documentation
  • Develop system design solutions that satisfy system requirements and functional analyses.
  • Generate and evaluate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions.
  • Implement operational, technical standards, systems, and services architecture views using applicable DoDAF standards.
  • Support the implementation of comprehensive SOA solutions.
  • Develop, define, and maintain system and component interfaces throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Capture interface designs using standardized Interface Control Document (ICD) formats and maintain interface information in accessible repositories.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to design and evaluate new system capabilities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engineering activities involving hardware, software, systems, integration, and test teams.
  • Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, integration, interfacing, and testing of complex hardware/software systems.
  • Support requirements elicitation, functional allocation, systems requirements reviews, system architecture development, interface standards, and end-to-end flow analysis.
  • Allocate real-time processing budgets and error budgets across systems and subsystem components.
  • Develop scenarios and operational concepts describing interactions among systems, users, and operational environments.
  • Define verification methods, processes, and evaluation criteria to ensure systems and subsystems satisfy established requirements.
  • Plan verification activities for new and unproven designs early in the development lifecycle.
  • Support system integration, verification, validation, testing, deployment, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities.
  • Prepare timeline analyses illustrating the flow and dependencies of time-sensitive system functions.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis of non-functional system characteristics, including reliability, maintainability, vulnerability, survivability, and producibility.
  • Establish and maintain formal requirements change-management and traceability processes.
  • Evaluate proposed requirement changes, determine system impacts, obtain stakeholder concurrence, and track technical actions through closure.
  • Manage and maintain the technical integrity of the system baseline throughout development, deployment, and O&M.
  • Coordinate action items resulting from Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews.
  • Support configuration management and establishment of common technical baselines for hardware and software development teams.
  • Assess technical and program risks, including probability of occurrence and potential consequences, in accordance with established risk-management plans.
  • Review and provide technical input to Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), work packages, and Integrated Master Plans (IMP).
  • Support planning and test analysis associated with DoD Certification and Accreditation (C&A) and other Government certification processes.
  • Support the development and review of Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) documentation, including Initial Capability Documents, Capability Description Documents, and Information Assurance strategies.
  • Develop derived requirements addressing Information Assurance (IA) services and security mechanisms, including confidentiality, integrity, availability, non-repudiation, authentication, access control, accountability, cryptography, hashing, and key management.
  • Review and approve systems engineering documentation to ensure technical accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with system requirements.
  • Establish and follow formal processes for coordinating system integration across multiple engineering teams, ensuring complete coverage of system interfaces.
Do you have what it takes?
