Job summary

VTG is seeking a System Engineer II in Colorado Springs, CO. The role translates mission needs into system requirements and engineering products, coordinating across stakeholders to maintain alignment through design, implementation and test.

You will develop system specs, interface documentation, and architecture views; support integration across software, network, cyber, cloud and test disciplines; contribute to SRR/PDR/CDR reviews; ensure verifiability with test readiness.

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years of relevant systems engineering experience.
• Experience with requirements development and engineering documentation.
• Experience in a structured delivery environment (Agile, iterative, or traditional lifecycles).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, IT, Business, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead/support requirements development, decomposition, and management; maintain end-to-end traceability from mission needs through verification.
• Develop and maintain systems engineering artifacts (e.g., system specs, interface documentation, architecture views, technical baselines).
• Support integration planning and coordination across engineering disciplines (software, network, cyber, cloud, test).
• Contribute to technical reviews (SRR/PDR/CDR or equivalent), including preparing materials and closing review actions.
• Support verification planning and test readiness activities; ensure requirements are measurable and testable.
• Identify technical risks/issues and propose mitigations; support configuration and change control processes.

What will you do?

Do you have what it takes?

• TS/SCI with Poly Required
• 3–7+ years of relevant systems engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience with requirements management and development of engineering documentation.
• Experience working in a structured delivery environment (Agile, iterative, or traditional engineering lifecycles).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, IT, Business, or related field
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with MBSE/SysML and/or architecture frameworks (DoDAF), Familiarity with integration, verification, and configuration management practices, Prior support to U.S. Government programs (DoD/Federal/Civil).

This position is contingent upon program award.Pay Range: VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $135,000 - $185,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
