Job summary

Kidde Global Solutions is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for an on-site role in Bradenton, FL. You will lead development of embedded firmware and life-safety software, translating product needs into system requirements and coordinating across architecture, design, verification, and production readiness.

The role involves risk identification, cross-functional collaboration, and driving standard work, with opportunity to influence multiple projects in a global team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • 5+ years in systems engineering or 8+ years in engineering domains such as electrical, embedded firmware, software, or safety-critical systems.
  • Master's degree and/or professional certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain system requirements for fire alarm systems and related equipment.
  • Analyze, decompose, document, and manage system and safety-critical requirements.
  • Drive requirements decomposition aligned to architecture and trade studies.
  • Define system boundaries, inputs/outputs, data flows, and processing needs.
  • Plan verification/validation activities to ensure coverage of requirements.
  • Lead design reviews (DFMEA, RRCA) and product safety assessments.
  • Own engineering workstreams across multiple projects.
  • Create standard work and procedures for repeatable engineering practices.

Senior Systems Engineer

Location: On-site in Bradenton, FL

Base Salary Rate: $115,247 - $135,585 per year

About This Role

This Systems Engineering role leads development efforts for embedded firmware and software-controlled life safety systems, including fire detection, notification, control, communications, and connected products. The role translates product needs into clear system and sub-system requirements while ensuring alignment across architecture, design, verification, validation, and production readiness. The candidate will develop systems engineering work products, identify requirement and interface risks, coordinate cross-functional technical inputs, support safety and failure mode analysis, and help improve standard work, tools, and repeatable engineering practices across multiple projects in a global team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain system requirements for fire alarm systems and associated equipment
  • Analyze, decompose, document, and manage system and safety-critical requirements
  • Drive requirements decomposition aligned to system architecture and technical trade studies
  • Define system boundaries, inputs/outputs, data flows, and processing needs
  • Establish requirements based on VoC sessions, quality incident tickets, and technology improvements.
  • Plan and coordinate verification/validation activities to ensure requirements coverage
  • Lead, facilitate and contribute to design, DFMEA, RRCA, and product safety reviews
  • Own assigned engineering workstreams across multiple projects or disciplines
  • Perform difficult or complex engineering activities and create standard works for common procedures.
  • Manage significant work packages within complex engineering projects
  • Support customer documentation development.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, or 8+ years of experience in an engineering domain such as electrical engineering, embedded firmware, software, product development, or safety-critical systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Systems, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • ASEP/CSEP, or equivalent systems engineering certification
  • Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, DOORS, Rhapsody, Visio, or equivalent engineering lifecycle tools
  • Demonstrated experience applying system architecture, UML/SysML, DFMEA, Pugh Matrix, requirements management, QFD, and verification traceability
  • Experience creating or improving standard work, engineering procedures, templates, or process guidance
  • Knowledge of KGS organization, processes, tools, programs, or systems is strongly preferred
  • Experience in the Fire Protection industry
