Job summary

Sterling Search Partners is assisting a growing client in Birmingham, AL, to find a SR Systems Administrator who will support and evolve enterprise IT infrastructure across IT and OT environments.

The role requires hands-on design, implementation, and management of on‑premises, hosted, and cloud systems, with emphasis on Azure, Intune, and Hyper‑V. You will mentor junior staff and provide on‑call support in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of experience in system administration.
• Strong expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, and core infrastructure services.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Intune, etc.).
• Experience with virtualization platforms (Hyper‑V preferred).
• Knowledge of SSO, identity federation, and security best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure including servers, virtualization, identity, and cloud platforms
• Serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues, driving troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and hybrid identity services
• Administer Microsoft Azure (VMs, networking, storage, identity, and security)
• Implement and maintain endpoint management and security policies via Intune
• Support SSO and identity federation (SAML and third‑party integrations)
• Manage virtualization environments (Hyper‑V), backup, and disaster recovery systems
• Partner with network and cybersecurity teams to maintain secure, compliant environments
• Lead infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations, and M&A system integrations
• Maintain system hardening, patching, monitoring, and compliance standards
• Support OT infrastructure in collaboration with engineering and operations teams
• Develop technical documentation, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans
• Provide on‑call support and mentor junior IT staff
