Job summary

University of Miami Health System seeks a Systems Architect 2, MLOps Engineer to independently design, develop, and deploy clinical applications and AI solutions. You will define integrated system solutions, manage vendor relationships, and implement scalable ML/AI workloads across hybrid cloud/on-prem environments.

The role requires 8+ years in systems architecture/DevOps/MLOps, strong Python and ML framework skills, and proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.
• Epic or Healthcare EMR certification preferred.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in systems architecture, DevOps, or MLOps.
• Experience with hybrid cloud/on-prem environments; Azure preferred.
• Experience deploying and maintaining production workloads.
• Major systems development and implementation experience.
• Experience in healthcare or academic settings preferred.
• Experience mentoring and leading data teams or software engineering teams.
• Experience with HPC or GPU-based workloads preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes; Terraform and ARM templates.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
• Familiarity with ML lifecycle tools (MLflow, DVC, Airflow).
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards: APIs, FHIR, HL7, DICOM.
• Understanding of responsible AI practices and model governance.
• Understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance in regulated environments.
• Change control and project management knowledge.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement ML/AI infrastructure for clinical, research, and operations.
• Lead complex, high-impact projects with vendor coordination.
• Design scalable, reusable ML platforms with reproducible workflows.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines for ML models and maintain them.
• Collaborate with data scientists and IT to productionize models.
• Ensure data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
