Job summary

GCI is seeking a Systems Administrator SME in Reston, VA. The role focuses on Windows system administration with some Linux, supporting infrastructure, and developer-based applications.

The candidate will engineer, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain systems, ensuring security and reliability in a fast-paced environment. Required experience includes Windows Server/AD, multiple hypervisors, patch management, scripting (PowerShell/Bash), and strong collaboration with security and network teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
• Experience with Hyper-V, KVM, VMware or similar hypervisors.
• Experience installing and updating patches on the operational and development systems, and documenting compliance.
• Strong collaboration with other systems administrators, security analysts, and network engineers to solve complex problems.
• Experience scripting (PowerShell, Bash) for automation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Windows operating systems, application support, integration, design, and assistance as needed with additional duties to support the team.
• Schedule and install Windows security patching, file and server backups, maintain group policies, troubleshoot server issues, and manage server installs.
• Schedule, plan and perform system upgrades.
• Maintain, plan and monitor the back-end infrastructure.
• Support cyber security engineer performing security analysis of audit logs and other artifacts of a networked computer system.
