Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority seeks an experienced IT professional to provide technical support for server hardware, OS software, and storage area networks. You will install, configure, and maintain complex server environments, and collaborate with DBAs, network admins, and help desk staff to ensure high availability.

Responsibilities include planning server/storage installations, documenting assets, and guiding junior staff while evaluating new technologies for the MTA environment.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting server hardware and OS.
• Ability to troubleshoot remotely and on-site using standard tools.
• Ability to read schematics, manuals, and documentation for maintenance.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Experience guiding junior staff and planning technical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Install and troubleshoot complex server and storage solutions to meet availability targets.
• Configure servers for apps, databases, domain controllers, web servers, and storage networks.
• Coordinate with DBAs, network admins, and help desk staff on infrastructure needs.
• Document IT assets and maintain records per policies and procedures.
• Evaluate new products and technologies and assess impact on the environment.
• Mentor less senior technicians and staff on tasks.
• Plan, design, and document IT solutions and standards.
• Lead planning and coordination of server/storage installations.
