Your combination of people skills and system administrator knowledge makes you the team hero, solving one problem after another. We’re looking for a system administrator who can implement and maintain a system to help us deploy technical solutions across the various agencies that make up the State government.
As a system administrator on our team, you’ll ensure the current infrastructure is functional and available. You’ll help clients overcome tough challenges through monitoring and performance management. Your knowledge will be vital as you identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical network. Your communication skills will come in handy as you turn metrics into information and articulate their meaning.

Some of the day to day opportunities include:
Managing, optimizing, and securing our system infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our systems.
Overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of critical systems and applications, while proactively identifying and resolving technical issues.
Managing both on-premises and cloud environments, automating routine tasks, and implementing best practices to enhance system performance.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless systems operations and provide guidance to junior administrators to promote a culture of operational excellence.
Management of systems infrastructures, implementing best practices to Identify and recommend system functional specifications, configuration of physical and virtual systems, backup and recovery of IT infrastructure.
Updating and supporting systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space.
Implementing critical patches, reviewing systems performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience as an IT professional which must include a minimum of three (3) years experience as a systems administrator within a Windows or Linux environment.
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in state or federal government is preferred.
Experience in a professional, large enterprise-level environment (100+ servers), as a dedicated Systems Administrator.
Experience with Linux operating systems.
Experience managing both on-premise and familiarity interacting with and within cloud environments.
Real-world, hands on experience with at least one Cloud based environment (AWS - Preferred, Azure or GCP).
Scripting experience writing and converting scripts written in bash, python and powershell.
Availability to participate in an on-call rotation.
Experience with centralized system administration and monitoring tools such as Tanium, Splunk, Tenable, CS Falcon Portal or comparable enterprise scale management tools.
OIT employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.
A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.
Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test.
This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.
