Job Description

Steel Thread Software, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Senior System Administrator who is looking to join a fast-paced software development team. This is an excellent opportunity to bring your talent to a thriving software company.

A successful fit for this role would be someone with recent experience leading DevOps efforts, proven team lead experience, and great communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all DevOps efforts and manage our current DevOps team.
  • Work directly with Engineers and client to development and implement new end-user solutions that address current business needs.
  • Have a clear understanding of the application development tools with the CICM infrastructure that can help optimize and scale it out accordingly.
  • Lead all efforts to improve processes, solutions, and configuration management.
  • Responsible for application administration activities in support of development, user acceptance test and production systems supporting web-deployed applications
  • Provisioning virtual machines using cloud management solutions (VMWare, vCenter, OpenStack, Red Hat, etc.)
  • Monitoring internal and production hosts using Nagios, Cacti, and other application performance monitoring systems.
  • Working with Developers and other Engineers in troubleshooting internal production issues.
  • Performing network and operational tasks in the internal and production systems.
  • Scripting operational tasks for faster and less error-prone execution.
  • Helping maintain and evolve the company’s internal development and quality assurance environments.
  • Working with the Operations and Product Development teams in continually improving the company’s automated software deployment process.
  • Maintaining and evolving the security infrastructure on both internal and production environments.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with scripting languages (bash, Perl, Python, Ruby, shell)
  • Linux System Admin experience (preferably RedHat/Centos/Fedora/Ubuntu)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with automated configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible, Chef)
  • Ability to work with agile development teams (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
  • Proven leadership experience

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience.
  • Strong client focus, business acumen and results orientation.
