Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States seeks a seasoned Linux Systems Administrator to support the National Programs Intelligence Systems & Application Operating Unit in Reston, VA. You will install, configure, and maintain Linux servers, virtual servers, and upgrade application software.

Responsibilities include monitoring performance, providing Tier 1 and 2 support, and Oracle Database installation, maintenance, and backups in a secure, classified environment.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree with 5+ years in system administration, or MS with 3+ years.
• Strong Linux experience (RHEL/Ubuntu) in classified environments.
• Some Windows server administration experience is a plus.
• Hands-on Oracle DB installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing both virtual and physical servers.
• Experience with system monitoring and backups.
• DoD 8570 certification such as Security+ CE, CISSP or CASP or equivalent.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; or Masters degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Proven experience in system administration, specifically with Linux, including RHEL and Ubuntu, and UNIX in classified environments.
• Some Windows server administration experience would be good to have.
• Hands‑on experience with Oracle Database installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing both virtual and physical servers.
• Experience performing system monitoring.
• Experience with backup management.
• Experience implementing performance optimizations.
• Currently valid DoD 8570 certification such as Security+ CE, CASP, CISSP, or similar security certification.
