Senior Systems Administrator

Chicago, IL

Onsite 5 days a week

We're looking for a highly skilled and proactive Senior Systems Administrator to join our team. In this multi-disciplinary role, you'll be the go-to expert for all things IT, from hands-on troubleshooting to designing and implementing our identity and access management (IAM) systems. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring our IT environment is secure, streamlined, and user-friendly, with a particular focus on leveraging Okta to manage our identity infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Identity & Access Management (IAM) - Core Focus

• Own and improve our Okta configuration, including Single Sign-On (SSO) and provisioning processes.
• Lead the management and evolution of our IAM systems to meet security and compliance needs.
• Develop and enforce IT security policies and practices.

Infrastructure & Networking

• Manage and maintain our office network equipment, including switches, firewalls, and access points, to ensure stable and secure connectivity.
• Implement and maintain local servers and cloud-based infrastructure to meet operational and scalability needs.

User Support & Systems Operations

• Provide escalation-level support for complex issues in our Mac and Windows environments.
• Develop and optimize IT support workflows, from onboarding and offboarding to day-to-day operations.

Security & Compliance

• Partner with leadership to enforce and document security policies.
• Conduct security audits and proactively address vulnerabilities.
• Help prepare for compliance with relevant standards (e.g., SOC2, ISO 27001).

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in systems administration or a security-focused IT role.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Okta, including configuring SSO, provisioning, and managing application integrations.
• Strong familiarity with both Apple macOS and Windows environments.
• Proficiency in managing IAM tools, MDM platforms, and networking equipment (e.g., UniFi and Fortinet).
• A proven problem-solver with excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
• Experience with compliance frameworks such as SOC2 or ISO 27001.
• Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
