Job summary

TechFlow, Inc. seeks a Senior Systems Administrator to maintain and optimize the enterprise IT infrastructure for a critical DOD program, ensuring security, stability, and high availability. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in systems administration.
  • Experience conducting routine system administration activities and maintaining detailed system administration logs.
  • Experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise IT infrastructure supporting high‑volume, high‑availability environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across servers, operating systems, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Experience utilizing system debugging tools, troubleshooting methodologies, and diagnostic processes.
  • Strong understanding of Windows and/or Linux server administration.
  • Experience with system monitoring, patch management, backup solutions, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support enterprise servers, operating systems, virtual environments, and infrastructure.
  • Perform routine system administration tasks including user accounts, monitoring, patching, backups, and performance tuning.
  • Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and configuration records.
  • Monitor system health and implement actions to maximize availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in high‑volume environments.
  • Use debugging tools and diagnostic processes to resolve problems.
  • Respond to incidents and provide timely communication during support.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity to apply patches and maintain compliance.
  • Support upgrades, deployments, and modernization initiatives.
  • Assist with disaster recovery planning and backup validation.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and SOPs.
  • Participate in after‑hours maintenance and on‑call support.

Job description

TechFlow Inc. is an employee‑owned company delivering mission‑critical technology, engineering, and mission support services to federal government customers. We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to play a key role in a critical DOD program, powering the platform that securely collects, analyzes, reports, and exchanges data from Transportation Security Equipment. In this role you will administer, maintain, monitor, and optimize the enterprise IT infrastructure supporting the customer’s platform, ensuring stability, security, and availability through routine system administration, troubleshooting, and proactive corrective action. You will work closely with cybersecurity personnel, engineers, help desk staff, and government stakeholders to maintain a secure, high‑performing operating environment.

Hybrid Remote: Must be able to attend in‑person meetings in the Northern VA/DC Metro area

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and support enterprise servers, operating systems, virtual environments, and associated infrastructure supporting the customer’s platform.
  • Perform routine system administration tasks, including user account management, system monitoring, patch management, backups, and performance tuning.
  • Maintain accurate system administration logs, operational documentation, and configuration records.
  • Monitor system health, identify performance issues, and implement corrective actions to maximize system availability and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, operating system, network, and application issues in high‑volume, high‑availability environments.
  • Utilize established debugging tools, protocols, and diagnostic processes to isolate and resolve technical problems.
  • Respond to customer‑reported incidents and service requests, providing timely resolution and effective communication throughout the support process.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity personnel to implement security controls, apply security patches, and maintain compliance with government security requirements.
  • Support system upgrades, software deployments, maintenance activities, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Assist with disaster recovery planning, backup validation, and system restoration activities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and configuration management records.
  • Participate in after‑hours maintenance windows and provide on‑call support as required.
Compensation

$75,000 – $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in systems administration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and hybrid environments.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, vulnerability remediation, and secure system administration.
  • Industry certifications such as Microsoft, Red Hat, VMware, Security+, Server+, or comparable credentials.
