Job summary

Zipline is hiring for a System Test leadership role focused on hardware reliability across environmental and durability campaigns. You will lead a small cross-functional team of test engineers and technicians, owning the system-test roadmap and developing hardware and software to replicate in-flight stresses and monitor the vehicle.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading test engineers, equipment designers and technicians for complex hardware programs.
• Experience planning environmental, durability and reliability test campaigns that inform engineering decisions.
• Experience using reliability techniques such as MTBF, Weibull analyses and DFMEAs.
• Strong electromechanical skills in embedded controls and actuation.
• Proficiency in Python, Rust and C/C++ for test software and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop novel ways to replicate in-flight environments on the ground with external and internal stresses.
• Own vehicle actuation during system tests and understand DFMEA.
• Translate mission profiles into qualification and life-test plans with stress levels and sample sizes.
• Develop health monitoring and anomaly detection software using onboard telemetry.
• Drive rapid fault finding and data pipelines for system tests and validators.
• Create features enabling Test Mode in flight code and support test campaigns.
• Integrate off-board sensors for continuous health monitoring during long tests.
• Characterize test assets and build analytical models correlating tests to flight.
• Define test strategy and escalate coverage across system, component, and flight tests.
