Job summary

Textron Systems, Hunt Valley, MD, seeks a System Safety Engineer to support development of advanced ground robotics and airborne systems. You will identify hazards, assess risk, and recommend mitigations to protect personnel, equipment, and the environment, while collaborating with government partners and vendors.

You will lead system safety programs, develop SSPP, PHA, SSHA/SHA, O SHA, EOD analyses, and SARs, ensuring compliance with DoW weapon system standards and MIL-STD-882E.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of engineering experience in safety programs.
• Experience performing MIL-STD-882 hazard analyses and safety assessments.
• Ability to lead system safety tasks and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIL-STD-882 tasks and hazard analyses (PHL/PHA/SSHA/SHA).
• Identify hazards and implement mitigations to reduce risk to mission success.
• Review requirements and procedures to ensure safety compliance across programs.
• Prepare safety documentation (SSMP, SARs, test reports) and support program reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with stakeholders to improve safety processes.
